We just launched our new advertising campaign on our beautiful beach.    Hang on, Cory!

Tuesday, November 12, 2013

We just finished a couple of days of filming attractions around Manuel Antonio and Quepos.  Here is the Re/Max land and aerial film crew surrounding the happy wedding party after staging a mock ceremony on the beach.  Thanks, everyone, especially Sandy and Jesus.  It's not everyday that a straight woman marries a gay guy.  Wait a minute, it actually probably DOES happen everyday. :)

The show at Karma for the Halloween Party was quite colorful.  The place was packed.  Probably 120 people.  It was a great success.  The costume prize winners we a pair of Avitars.  Maybe I will be able to find some pictures of them as well.  Don't forget to check out our Facebook par:  Gay Real Estate Costa Rica.

Our community lost one of its most notable residents a few weeks ago.  Her name was Gypsy Rose, and she was quite a person.  Born as Eddie, she went on to become a priest.  She lived with us as her true self and everyone who knew her admired her courage and tenacity.  She was known as a kind and compassionate soul who had a knack for finding humor in most situations.  At her memorial service on the beach, a friend  spoke of her this way.  "Gypsy was a good man, a good priest, and a good woman."  That sums it up for me.  We will  miss your physical presence with us Gypsy.  Below is our beachfront memorial gathering.

And now for a little sad news.  It seems that Liquid Lounge Genny is closing in two weeks.  The owner of the building is taking it back.  Seems there is a little problem with the rent.  Anyway, we will be losing our late night dance bar.... for a while.  I feel certain another will open up.  Just like the opening of Karma Lounge.  I know we have lost a couple of hotels over the last few years, but I personally know of two other situations that are on the horizon.  So we will make a good comeback  I'm sure.   It's just the "Circle of Life" (in the gay world)..... hit it ELTON!
Well, here is one more little picture of friends at the opening week of Karma Lounge.  This is Os, a local massage therapist and Spanish teacher; his girlfriend, and Mike (owner of a very popular hotel near the Park entrance, La Posada).

Last Friday night, August 9, was a little Birthday Party for Tim.  We had about 40 people meet at the new Karma Lounge .  The bar is not officially open until Friday night the 16, but they opened it up for our little party.  It was a great trial fun for them and we all had a blast.  It was raining like crazy during the party and we loved it.  I'll take more pictures at the grand opening so you can catch the great vibe they have created there.  We now have 4 gay bars in town.  I love it.

It happened the 30th of June.  The FOURTH annual gay Pride/Diversity Parade and Festival in San Jose.  The Main street downtown was closed for the 6 kilometer parade that ended in the park for a party.    Thousands lined the street and the parade was chock full if the diversity and courage that these events are known for.  This year, there were more floats and they were more elaborate.
The village people even showed up at Pride this year.  Those guys are IMMORTAL.
What would Pride parades be without lots of drag queens on a float?
She wins my vote for the best costume with a statement.  "Here I am."
The bars and clubs were well represented too.
This year there was a real focus on Marriage Equality.  More on that later.
Our local Manuel Antonio float was there and we passed out goodie bags full of coupons from local vendors that support us.  Thanks Everyone!
Oh, and need I mention that there was quite of representation of hot guys at the event?

Yes, it's true.  I cannot pass up an opportunity to have a picture with some locals.  We had a great time. Hope you can join us next year.

Jungle hikes are a regular part of life in a tropical paradise.  Many of the properties for sale in Costa Rica have this kind of terrain for your enjoyment.  Your new home in the jungle can be as spectacular as nature itself.  Check out some of the listings on www.gayrealestatecostarica.com

Pareos are also a regular part of life here.  Too many clothes are a common mistake that many tourists make here.  When traveling to your vacation destination in Costa Rica, be sure NOT to bring too many clothes.  LIfe is casual here in the tropics and living in Central America is just that fabulous.  We rarely find occasions when we wish were were more formal.  Whether you are looking for a great vacation destination OR if you want to relocate permanently, Costa Rica is the place for retirement and enjoyment. Buy a home in Costa Rica and I'll throw in the pareo!  Male model sold separately.

Well, one of the perks of selling real estate in Costa Rica is that when you go to a lovely jungle property to list it for your client, it only makes sense to check out the nearby waterfall and go skinny dipping.  Although, most of the focus of Gay Real Estate Costa Rica is the gay traveler and gay retiree market, occasionally, as in this case, my clients are straight.  We do not discriminate!  Not bad for a fifth career, huh?

But enough about gay real estate, let's talk lifestyle.

N
Now this is an hibiscus!!  With the ocean in the distance and the jungle in the foreground, AND a rainstorm coming from the mountains behind, it is quite a life experience to live here in paradise.  When we first decided to buy an oceanview lot and build our dream home, we never really imagined just how wonderful retirement could be in a tropical paradise where being gay is very comfortable and appreciated by the locals.  Turns out that Manuel Antonio is not just a fun gay vacation destination, it is quickly becoming a gay retirement destination.  Two more guys start their new house this month.

OK, so occasionally, we get a  little intruder.  Well, in this case, not so little.  That is to be expected, since everything is bigger in the jungle.  And this is a novel use for a tape measure in our house for sure.  I don't think this roach is gay and he certainly is not happy.  The good news for us gay boys.... it's dead, so NO MORE SCREAMING!!!!

Back to the "lifestyles" section of living in paradise.  For all you gay folk with sea-legs, we have on-going great news about the new marina here in Quepos, Costa Rica.  Marina Pez Vella is heavy into Phase II of the three phase project.  They just are finishing the space for three new restaurants.  One of them is the new location for the Quepos branch of Cafe Milagro, who has the great restaurant up in Manuel Antonio.  The marina will be adding 100 more boat slips, and an huge boat repair yard to lift the big  yachts.   Here is a sample of one of the party boats that is already here.  Yes, gay tour groups occasionally rent out entire boats and then it really is party time.!!!  I know gay vacationers who became gay retirees after one of these parties and never left!

Yes, Gay Life in Costa Rica marches on.  We are already planning for this year's Gay Pride Events in San Jose.  My guess is that it will be even bigger and better than last year's , as pictured here.

But even with all the great activities, we never forget why gay folks live and travel here.  Even with the International Sports  Bill Fishing Tournament, and fetish parties at Liquid Lounge,  the real reason we are here is PURA VIDA.
Cheers!

More GREAT news from paradise!  There are (strongly substantiated) reports of the impending creation of ANOTHER gay bar here in Manuel Antonio.  This has been a banner years for the gay community.  We will see the opening of this new bar and The Rainbow Lounge (part of the Contempo) as well as the two existing bars (Magambo and liquid).  Wow!  A total of four.  We are making great strides in increasing our gay presence here.  With the rainy season coming on us a bit early this year, everything is becoming so green and lush and we are gearing up for a good summer season.  There are always more travel tips on www.gayrealestatecostarica.com and you can always reach us at gayrealestatecostarica@facebook.com  There are direct links there to all of the hotspots.

Some really good news coming out of Manuel Antonio.  Semana Santa (holy week) is in full swing.  The beaches are packed, the restaurants are humming and traffic is a challenge.

The contempo hotel ( a gay hotel) and its adjoining gay bar/club is officially open.  I visited for the first time last night and snapped a few photos of some of the early guests who were there as early as I was.  It is a beautiful addition to our community here.  The bar/club has a pool in the middle of it and it even ha misters to keep the crowd cool.
Harry is the owner of Contempo and together with Cor (right) they are partnered in the new large club in San Jose called Venue.   Venue had over 700 people on Wednesday night.   Below are a couple of typical tico men.  Now you know why we live here.  Keep watching for more details of developments in our area by visiting www.gayrealestatecostarica.com

Great news!  Moxi Media is handling internet promotions for Liquid,  Bar Mogambo, and The Contempo Hotel.  Keep watching those sites for details on fun events throughout Semana Santa  For details on these and other sites, check out www.gayrealestatecostarica.com  Come to the beach for the next two weekends!!  The party is on!

Here are a few pictures from THE Red Party!  Valentine's Day (Dia Del Amor) is always a fun celebration in Central America.  Especially here.  Many Cupids actually reside here.  Check out his Facebook  picture at "gayrealestatecostarica" and "like" or "friend" us.  AND, as you can see, we have to juggle all the fun we have.  I guess that would be JUNGlE JUGGLING.
